Posada Villaverde

The stay is in a small palace built in the year 1.912 projected by the architect Javier González Riancho, author of many other important works such as the Magdalena Palace in Santander. The acquisition of the building (practically in ruin) in 2001 needed a rigorous rehabilitation, since it is catalogued as building of architectural interest. The above mentioned rehabilitation ran in charge of Salvador Díaz Ruiz, Maria del Pilar Chico’s husband, manager of the establishment. The building, of clear English influence, is placed in an idyllic and calmness area, with leafy woodland. Placed in Villaverde de Ontones, with all the necessary services such as: the restaurant El Cenador de Amós (Estrella Michelín), pharmacy, banks, shops, hairdressing salon, tobacconist’s, newsagent’s, bars, etc. It is very well communicated, since the highway Santander-Bilbao is three km far, so getting to Santander takes 15 minutes. Nearby we have a magnificent choice of offers for the free time and e ntertainment, such as the Golf Course of Pedreña, the beautiful beaches in Langre, Loredo, Somo, El Puntal; all of them of thin white sand and crystalline waters)... The Nature Reserve of Cabárceno, (one of the few ones with animals from all over the world in semi-freedom). The Caves of Altamira in Santillana del Mar (with the Collegiata and Sobrellano, the Pontifical University, The Caprice of Gaudí), without forgetting the Natural Reserve of Saja. Cabuérniga with extensive woods and wonderful places where you can eat a marvellous Mountain stew.... Liébana, heart of Peaks of Europe and enclave of the mountain tourism in Cantabria. As for the oriental coast there is a great diversity of typical seaworthy villages as Santoña, Laredo, and Castro Urdiales, and the nice beaches of Garlic, Noja and Isla with great summer atmosphere.
