CAN NADAL DE LA BOADELLA was founded at the beginning of the 16th century in Penedès land.
The big difference between the maximum and minimum temperatures in July and August is responsible, to a large degree, for the maturity of the grape and therefore for the balance among its main components.
The base wine used to make the Nadal range of Cavas, white wine and bittersweet vinegar comes from over 40 vineyards which surround the bodega, the winery and the family home. The vines, which are quite old, produce small quantities of grapes but of a high quality.
At Finca Nadal we cultivate three main white grape varieties: Macabeo, xarel.lo and parellada.
OUR CAVAS
Yearly production: Brut, Rosado Brut and semi-seco
In the year 1943, we started making cava. We use mainly macabeu, xarel·lo and parellada grapes from our vineyards. After a meticulous vinification in the bodega, there is a second fermentation in bottle -Traditional or Champagne method- and afterwards 2 to 7 years of ageing
Vintage cavas: Ramón Nadal Giró, Salvatge and Especial
We only make vintage cavas when we consider a harvest to be outstanding and when the characteristics of the predominant grape variety are exceptional.
The oldest vineyards on the Nadal estate, in years of very special climatic conditions, produce varietal wines of such intrinsic quality that a ´vintage´ is declared. These are aged longer on the yeasts than non-vintage, are more full-bodied and rounded, with a potential to improve their quality as they grow old.
The magnums: Magnum Brut Nature, Rosado Magnum 1999 and Gran Salvatge 199
The bottle of one liter and a half offers the best conditions for the development of the second fermentation, together with a long ageing. It is the most indicated product to celebrate great events.
OTHER PRODUCTS
White wines: Nadal 1510, Dolc d’Octobre, Finca Boadella
A profound knowledge of our estate, a perfect adaptation of the native varieties and the extraordinary Mediterranean climate during the ripening or the over ripening of the grape, lend a unique character to our White Wines. |
Bittersweet vinegar: Passum
Passum is the perfect balance between a hand-crafted process and the sweetness the sun concentrates on the late harvest grapes.
